Prairie Star Trails

Winipeg Night Sky Star Trails Photo

Star trails over the prairies.  Shot close to Winnipeg, but far enough to get away from all the city’s light pollution. I photographed the stars for 20 minutes. As I started uploading the 50 shots it took to make this photo, my program started to stack them one on top of another. I watched as my program worked and realized just how fast we are spinning on earth. The star trails you see in the photo are a measure of time. I merged all 50 photos together to show the movement of the earth through the light of stars. I was completely shocked when I saw this.  My fiance was nice enough to keep me company outside in our backyard as I snapped photos of the same spot in the sky over and over. I kept saying I don’t think this is going to work, nothing’s happening. Well despite my lack of confidence, the photograph turned out exactly as I imagined.

I started thinking about my photography and design business and where I was only last year compared to this year. Its crazy to think of how far I’ve come so far. It made me realized I need to stop looking for the daily milestones and just enjoy the process more because I am moving towards where I want to be. A little patients and seeing things through, eventually you’ll get to where you want to be. You may not notice the little steps along the way but when you get to your goal and look back, you realized just how far you have come.
