Attendees will be able to shoot alongside Ally creating beautiful images to strengthen their portfolio. During the various shoots, the watch and learn, hands on style workshop, all the attendees will be right in the action. Ally will be directing two live couples sessions along with one additional bridal shoot. Learn some of her posing techniques including direction and prompts to get that “natural- unposed” style she is known for. Ally will be right there with you, able to answer any questions you have on the spot… While there will be no classroom style education for this workshop, Ally will answer any questions throughout the day as they arise and sharing her experiences.
Ally is working with some amazing planners for this workshop, Laura and Leanne(Prairie Sky Events) to put together 3 epic styled shoots involving 20+ talented vendors. Shoots will include one engagement session, a bridal portrait session, and a wedding ceremony with bride + groom portraits, along with all the gorgeous wedding details from cakes, cookies to tablescape and stationary. All the vendors involved have been hand picked for their talent and creativity. Both couples, are REAL couples so you will be able to capture real emotions in your photos.
The goal is to provide a fun, relaxed and educational full day learning experience which leaves you feeling inspired to take your art to another level. Ally hopes to create an intimate community with the attendees and vendors so that everyone can network, stay connected and motivate for future opportunities! It’s hard when you are just starting in the industry and networking with some talented like-minded creatives is a great way to expand your business and work. Starting out is very challenging in this industry. It is my hope this workshop will expose you/your business to many talented vendors, some new creative ideas, network with other attendees, all which can help you expand you business and creative work.

FAQ
Who is this workshop for?
Anyone who as a passion for shooting couples or is wanting to explore shooting couples more. Tons of experience? Little experience? No experience? It doesn’t matter!
Are there any requirements to attend?
You must be able to use your camera. Ally will be open to sharing her camera setting specifics, but you must be able to change them yourself. There will be no formal teaching on how to use your camera. No skill or experience level is necessary. The workshop will be a great non pressure place to practice and learn techniques. Must be over 18 years of age 🙂
What should I bring?
Please bring a DSLR camera and lenses. You will be shooting most of the day so anything you would bring to a regular photoshoot (but scaled down) would be a good idea. Make sure to have plenty of memory cards! A notebook is a good idea if you want to take down any notes or write down reminders. There will be lots of snacks and drinks, but you are welcome to bring your own food to eat. There will be no formal meal.
What is your refund policy?
Payments are non-refundable but are transferable should you find someone to take your spot.
Can I use the images from the styled sessions in my portfolio?
Absolutely you can and should! We are curating amazing styled shoots for you to use and stand out. All attendees and vendors are required to clearly credit the workshop and vendors photographers when sharing images. We see this as huge advantage to share your work and be seen across other vendors media and recommend sharing images with the vendors.
Images must not be used to enter photo contests or online publication*
What if its raining?
The shoots are all planned to be outdoors and will continue in light rain. Dress appropriately. Shoot locations offer some coverage.
If attendees are all available and willing to do the workshop the following day (June 16) this will be an option to avoid poor weather. If you are able to keep June 16 free- please do! In the event of heavy rain we will move indoors (at Ally’s) and continue to shoot. We will only do a half day if this is the case and attendees will not be charged full price.
How many attendees/seats will there be?
We are making the atmosphere and setup of this Workshop intimate and personal so there will be a limited number of seats.
How does payment work?
The deposit is due with your registration. This will all be done online through an etransfer or through paypal. The deposit is 100% non-refundable, but it is transferable if you find someone else to take your spot. The remaining amount will be due 3 days before the workshop on June 12. Attendees will not be allowed to participate on June 15 if they have not paid in full.

Why I want to offer my first photo workshop.
Hello!!
I’m so excited that you are interested in my first ever photography workshop. If you have attended photo workshops before I can let you know right away this is going to be different. While I hope you learn a ton at this workshop the main goal will be getting yourself/business a ton of new fresh content. I want to be as transparent as possible with you so you know exactly what you are signing up for. This is my first ever workshop. In general I am a quiet person – until I am behind a camera. I’ve never taught anything before (other than a few people casually one on one), especially a large group. I’m so excited and terrified at the same time. There will not be any classroom type settings or specific lessons. We will be flowing from one shoot to the next. I will be doing a short live shoot for each new styled shoot. I will be free to answer questions at any time and help you as a group as well as one on one if you have specific questions. I will be an open book, open to answering any questions you have, including the business side of photography.
When I was new to the industry I tried to put a styled shoot together so I could show potential clients a full body of work. When I reached out to vendors I often didn’t hear back or had to pay quite a bit of money to use them and never really got the dress/product I wanted. Styled shoots are an incredible source of content, networking and experience. It’s also so overwhelming to put together. I want to help you overcome these hurdles by doing all the planning for you and establishing vendor connections and making a name for yourself in the industry to open doors in the future for you.
I am working to include a ton of local vendors in these shoots and will be going all out, including unique and elaborate décor and style. The more vendors I can include the more I can help you all network with each other and hopefully open some doors in the future for your own projects and shoots. While I do tend to shy away from networking events myself, I do think networking with your fellow photographers is important so I will be thinking of a non-cheesy way to get you all to know each other. I learned it’s such a big help making friends with people who are going through the same things as yourself. It’s a huge benefit to bounce ideas off each other or just being open to sharing how you work through different parts of your business. I truly hope you all come out of this with a personal relationship with all the other photographers and go forward supporting each other on one another’s journeys.
From my past experience I know group settings can cause a bit of tension when you are hoping to get a shot, but we are moving too quickly or someone was standing in the spot you wanted. I’ve attended workshops where I was the short person stuck in the back not getting any of the shots I wanted, and I know how frustrating this is. I will make sure this is not happening and I scheduled a ton of time for each shoot to make sure everyone gets some time with the couples. I don’t want anyone to think at any point they wished they got more opportunities to capture something or felt they missed out.
I am equal parts being professional, just being myself and having fun. We are going to put in some work on June 15, but there is also going to be a cooler full of champagne and beers. There’s no reason we can’t learn, work and have a ton of fun together. It’s one of the reasons we all enjoy photography so much right?!
